Twentieth Century Fox is reportedly in no rush to find a replacement director for The Wolverine, following Darren Aronofsky's decision to leave the film earlier this week.
It is believed that the studio has yet to draw up a shortlist of possible replacements for the Black Swan director, who cited the length of time he would have to be away from home as his main reason for leaving the project.
"I think we're going to let it air out a bit before we approach another director," a source told EW. "The one good thing, after losing Darren and what's going on in Japan, is that we have a great script and the star attached and ready to go."
The Wolverine will serve as a spiritual successor to the 2009 prequel film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but will be a self-contained story about the antihero's adventures in Japan.
Hugh Jackman is set reprise his role as the film's titular hero, although it is unknown whether the film will still be able to shoot in Japan following the country's recent earthquake.
The Wolverine was originally scheduled to be released in summer 2012.
