[ONTD Original] Pop Star Post: The Demos!

Fans/stans may know of almost every song that their idol has sung. It’s somewhat well-known nowadays that a lot of songs are submitted to the artists by songwriters (or a group of them) and if they’re lucky, it gets featured on an album. Wanna hear the original demos of some of your favs?




Candice Nelson – Radar (demo)
Candice is a member of The Clutch – a group of songwriters which also includes Keri Hilson. Candice is also one of the co-writers of “Radar”, which originally appeared on Britney Spears’ album ‘Blackout’.




Cri$tyle – Scared of Lonely (demo)
Crystal “Cri$tyle” Johnson is a songwriter who has helped write hits such as Mariah Carey’s ‘Touch My Body” and is credited on Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World)”. The final version of “Scared of Lonely” can be found on the deluxe edition of Beyoncé’s ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ album.




James Fauntleroy II – Te Amo (demo)
James Fauntleroy II is a singer-songwriter who has penned a number of songs including Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown’s duet “No Air”, Britney’s “Mannequin” off the ‘Circus’ album, as well as “Te Amo” itself – which appears on Rihanna’s ‘Rated R’.




Katy Perry - I Do Not Hook Up (demo)
Katy Perry sings the demo of Kelly Clarkson’s hit, co-written by former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. Fun fact: the song was originally called “Hook Up” and was supposed to be for Katy herself. Final version can be heard on Kelly’s album ‘All I Ever Wanted’.




Pet Shop Boys – Falling (demo)
Submitted by the Pet Shop Boys for Kylie Minogue, the final track is a little different from the demo but can still stand as a song on its own. “Falling” can be found on Kylie’s self-titled album released in 1994.
